Subject: Gentle Giants Rescue - Inspection

The following provides information regarding the annual inspection . . . at Gentle Giants Rescue, Burt and Tracy Ward property. The rescue was inspected on October 18, 2006 and was found to be in compliance.

Forty-two (42) adult dogs were on the premises; all had correct paperwork and all were current on vaccinations.

Inspection was done on the same day Burt Ward was contacted; within 15 minutes Animal Control had access to the property.

All buildings and the residence were inspected.

All of the dogs appeared to be in good health, and made a minimal amount of noise.

No build up of feces or "animal waste" runoff was found anywhere on the premise.

All outside drainage areas were inspected and appeared very dry showing no signs of runoff.

Conclusion: Animal Control inspected 4867 Pedley Avenue the residence of Burt and Tracy Ward to evaluate the annual Conditional Use Permit 2003-22, granted to Gentle Giants Rescue on October 18, 2006. During our inspection we found compliance with all animal keeping related conditions.

Hi Tracy –

I just spoke with Burt and asked for your help with three very special dogs.

I have attached their pictures below along with their impound numbers and shelter location.

The two from the Downey Shelter are special cases.

On October 17^th as Marcia, Christine and I were coming back from lunch in Long Beach, we saw "Ms. Piggy" and "Kermit" (yes, we gave them those names) running on Ocean Blvd. just about to get on the Long Beach (710) freeway.

Christine and I jumped out of Marcia’s car to stop the dogs from running onto the freeway.

After more than one hour of chasing the dogs, we were able to get both of them.

"Kermit" is really a sweet dog.

He does have some skin problems.

I think he was living on the streets by the looks of him.

"Ms. Piggy" is "Kermit’s" partner and was by his side the entire chase through Long Beach.

I know that "Ms. Piggy" isn’t a GIANT, but she is a nice dog.

The Saint has issues with other dogs at least at our shelter.

Can you please help me with them?

Please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi Ron, Marcia, and Christine,

We are SO happy to help these three very special dogs and to save the lives of all of the wonderful dogs that we have rescued with you over the past twelve years that we have worked together, and we look forward to the many more that we will continue to rescue in the future.

You are truly the Real Heroes of the day for the way that you rescued "Kermit" and "Ms. Piggy!"

It is wonderful to know that such caring and heroic people run the L.A. County Animal Shelters and who work together with rescues to save every animal's life.

We will make sure that all three of these dogs will have wonderful lives as inside members of a family where they will be happy and safe and loved and cherished as every living creature should be!

Thank you so much for helping us with the three dogs. Here is the information about the three dogs.

Lancaster - A3171282 – St. Bernard – She was already spayed and is ready to be picked when you have someone that can retrieve her.

Downey – A3439714 & A3439713 – These two are scheduled for their S/N surgeries on Monday, December 5^th.

They can be picked up after 4:00 P.M. on Monday or Tuesday/Wednesday if that day works better for you.

Please let me know when you will be able to send someone to pick the dogs up and I can update their records.

You are also welcome to call the shelters if you would like to make the arrangements.
